We are deeply sorry that is had to come to this; but, we trusted the wrong providers for doing our own backups and when our hard drives failed, they were not able to provide us with working backups.

Paid customers should all of received their money back. Some other wiki providers

All ScribbleWiki services are currently down, we’re talking to our datacentre right now it seems to be a network problem on there end. We will update this blog with any new information.

Edit: Some wikis have been restored, no data has been lost. All wikis should be up by this morning.

The New Techvibes

Well the new TechVibes is up (well for quite a few days already) and I must say its really been thought out well. Although, it took me a couple of days to figure out that the blog RSS feed url had changed and I hadn’t been reading anything from TechVibes.

I really like the feature of being able to set it to Vancouver and just have the content from the area.

Although there are some things to change/new features:

Like Danny I’d like to see an API/Code for the company databases.
Log-in, when I entered the wrong password it just refreshed the page. Please give me an error. And the password reset just sent a password that looks like this =0FA=0ALF@Co2Ro=0A=0A I’m guessing that is not suppose to be my new password.
Advertising Prices, what is wrong with just flat out displaying them?

Congrats to Rob and everybody else who was involved, great job.

Edit: Looks like both my log in problems have been solved!

Bryght stealing Website Content

So there was a little spat on Twitter about UrbanVancouver (owned and operated by Bryght) which is an blog aggregator, normally these work out great. This blog is included in a few like the Open Wiki Blog Planet, the difference is that we opted in to this aggregator. Local radio host Buzz Bishops blog entire archive was taken and posted on Urban Vancouver without his permission.

August Wiki Meetups

There are a bunch of Wiki meetups going on and some that even start a trend like WikiWednesday. They are all great places to learn about wikis, find jobs, talk deals and generally cavort.

List of people having Wiki Meetups:

Portland - Wiki Wednesday (Tomorrow) Hosted by AboutUs, which will be talking about the UniversalEditButton & Wikimania.
London - Wiki Wednesday. Although they won’t be having it until the 13th.
Toronto - Changed it to Wiki Tuesday; but, they seem to be having a few things going on.
Chicago - Doing a middle of the month Wednesday one, the 13th.
